Student Services: Dedicated and experienced staff are here to support your wellbeing and development in every aspect of your academic, personal and professional life.  

Our diverse university community has so much to offer. You will find full details on the supports available to you via the links above but below you will find a selection of some of these great services and of how you can get involved.  

YourSpace: Your student portal for joining Societies, Clubs, Volunteering, Class Reps, Student's Union Services, Mentoring, Peer Support, Lift, your personal calendar and loads more! Plus, measure your progress, apply for awards and much more. 

Societies:  A huge choice of societies to join for free and meet like-minded people! 

Clubs: Another free way to meet like-minded people! There are over 45 active and vibrant sports clubs at University of Galway. 

Weekly Student E-zine: Keep an eye on your emails each Monday for the weekly Student E-zine. 

Flirt FM: Galway's student radio station, which broadcasts on 101.3FM to the University of Galway and ATU campuses and the surrounding areas and offers an alternative to locally available commercial radio. Apply to volunteer  here. 

SIN: Student Independent News offers a great opportunity to get experience in journalism, photography, design, and other areas of newspaper production. You can get involved by turning up to our weekly meetings or by contacting the webmaster. 

ALIVE: For all volunteering opportunities enables students to have the opportunity to enrich your personal development and employability skills, have a fun experience, meet new people, and give back to your community. 

Student Success Coaching - Helping you Thrive: Student Success Coaches support students to take an active role in ‘designing their lives’ to achieve their unique academic, personal and life goals during their time at University of Galway.  

Self-help

Being aware of activities that can either calm you down or make you more alert is beneficial. For quick tips for staying balanced, focused and well take a look at this webpage for lots more resources. 

Well Zone: This podcast series is delivered by members of the counselling and wellbeing team at University of Galway. The series explores proven strategies to support your mental, spirtual and emotional health during your university journey.

Togetherall: Access Togetherall for free today if you study at a publicly funded higher education institute in Ireland.  On Togetherall you can get support and start to feel better when you’re feeling lonely, stressed, worried, sad, scared, angry etc. Or when you don’t know how you feel or are just not yourself. 

Mindful way:  A nurturing shared practice of mindfulness from University of Galway to generate calm, gather strength and then start your day well - can make all the difference. Join online every Wednesday from 8am to 8.30am. 

PCHEI Resources:  Psychological Counsellors in Higher Education in Ireland offer free student focused resources. 

Center for Clinical interventions (CCI): Mental health self-help resources. 

Beaumont Hospital Mindfulness Department: Free Mindfulness resources, written and audio files, including some in Irish. 

HSE Sleep help:  Looking after your mental wellbeing by getting the sleep you need. There is a close relationship between mental health and sleep. Not only is poor sleep seen as a symptom of mental health difficulties, but many people also believe that not getting enough sleep can be the cause of mental health problems.
